Go bald to gladden! Go bald to cheer! Pledge to help remove the fear!
"Teen Adventures – A Spirit Quest", is an outdoor/wilderness program that is supported by Balding for Dollars and the Oncology/Hematology/BMT Program at BC Children's Hospital. The program contracts excursion specialists to provide outdoor experiences for teens typically between the ages of 13-21 years of age. The teens are cancer or blood disorder survivors in active treatment or on a maintenance program, or are bereaved siblings. Through safe activities and environments, teens have the opportunities to discover personal potential, adjust their self concepts, and develop new skills and experiences. Joining the teens are junior leaders, medical staff, support staff, excursion specialists and volunteers. This provides a unique opportunity for all of them to connect with each other outside of the hospital environment and help build an oncology community of support. The adventures may also provide a form of respite for the parents or guardians.
