Bravery Beads
Go bald for courage. Go bald for daring. Your fundraising enables sharing & caring.
We pioneered Bravery Beads to help children through the long, difficult treatment journey. Each child first receives a length of colored cotton twine and beads that spell his\her first name. Staff help children string the beads together and the bonding process begins. Additional color-coded beads are added to symbolize all treatments and achievements along the way: white represents chemotherapy, red is for blood transfusions, glass means a bone marrow transplant and glow-in-the-dark beads signify radiation. Some beads are added for fun, others for outings and adventures - all personify one less hurdle.
These simple strands become powerful, meaningful, cherished medals valiantly earned and proudly worn as a personal badge of courage. Today over 300 children's hospitals around the world have adopted our Bravery Beads program.
